Web Applications Developer

 A fantastic opportunity is now available for an experienced Web Applications Developer to join our product-focused Agile development team and do hands-on development of our all our web based user interfaces and software services. You will be working on PHP back end applications, client side application code including HTML5 and JavaScript, and interacting with our in-house developed web services and APIs.

 

Imagen specialises in Media Asset Management for the world’s leading brands. We produce software systems that automate the processing of large volumes of Digital Video, Television and Still Imagery into a variety of formats and make the resulting archives easy to search, access online and monetise.

We have the opportunity for the Web Applications Developer to excel within our company and make a critical and valuable contribution to the development of our products. You will be a strong communicator, working as part of a highly technical and interdisciplinary development team, contributing your knowledge, inspired problem-solving skills and extensive experience.

 

Responsibilities:

 

PHP and JavaScript software development. Working on both back end user interfaces, with a focus on performance and functionality.

 

As a Web Applications Developer you will  

  • Use your skills and experience to build world leading web application functionality for managing and interacting with high value video and media.
  • Work within a SCRUM development team to deliver high-quality scalable software.
  • Play an active role in designing and implementing software architecture and functionality.
  • Create well documented and maintainable software.
  • Develop and refine existing functionality.
  • Fully engage with the SCRUM development process, including all the relevant meetings.
  • Contribute to the SCRUM team’s goals.

Qualifications and Experience:

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of developing for the web, with PHP and JavaScript experience far beyond JQuery.
  • A full understanding of MVC framework concepts.
  • Detailed understanding of application development for the web, rather than the creation of websites.
  • A detailed working knowledge of HTTP.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and a focus on delivering results.
  • Your contribution to a team and a proactive approach

You will have:

  • A relevant technical degree (or equivalent qualification) in Computer Science or a related subject or equivalent industry experience.
  • The ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner.
  • A willingness to undertake a proactive role within the team.

Experience with Agile software development processes is advantageous, but not essential.
